The wait is over - oldspeakbar in Garden City opens to the public for their soft opening March 28-30 10am to 10pm. This Book Beer Bar is a creative collaboration between bookstore thisroomislit and local brewery alliterationales. 

While Alliteration Ales is their house beer, they will have other rotating local and regional beers on draft, as well as cider, seltz cocktails, tea and cold brew.

The Lit Room is still alive and well, just now available to enjoy their MUCH larger collection while sipping an Amber 🍻. I had the extreme privilege and honor of curating one of the shelves with some of my favorite reads. Look for the “Hello Meridian” section. 🤩 I knew that bachelors degree in literature would get me something eventually! 

Memberships are available for extra perks, and you know I signed up for one of those immediately. 

Head to explore the micro- museum of prohibition and censorship created by their in-house historian Mark of ida.history.

And spend some time enjoying work of the Oldspeak art director, Megan of thenakedneighbor, who is also the featured artist for the season. 

Where did the name “Oldspeak” come from? Well. You have to grab a copy of “1984” the most famous banned book of them all, to find out.
