#Rewilding Darwin’s Rheas 🪶 1st-ever binational translocation in the Southern Cone of South America has moved 15 of these large flightless birds from Argentina to Chile to help rewild the species across Patagonia. 🏔️

Re:wild 🟢 partners rewildingchile 🇨🇱 and rewilding_argentina 🇦🇷 , which are offspring organizations of tompkins_conservation, have joined forces to bolster rhea populations and restore nature throughout the region. Rheas are found only in the Patagonian steppe and play a crucial role in healthy grasslands by dispersing seeds to renew vegetation growth. 🌱

Rewilding Ñandúes patagónicos  Por primera vez en América Latina, 15 choiques fueron trasladados desde Argentina hacia Chile para ayudar a recuperar la especie en Patagonia. RewildingChile  y Rewilding_Argentina , aliados de Re:wild  y legado de Tompkins_Conservation, unieron fuerzas para apoyar la restauración de poblaciones de choique y revertir su extinción local. El ñandú, como se lo llama en Chile, se encuentra únicamente en la Estepa Patagónica, donde juega un rol fundamental en mantener los pastizales sanos y dispersar semillas para renovar la vegetación.
