Calum Ritchie can’t play in the AHL anymore, because of a controversial CHL rule. 

The center got drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in 2023, and after a great season in the OHL (which falls under the CHL umbrella), the Canadian could earn a permanent spot in Colorado.

The problem: If the 19-year old does need some more time, he can’t play for AHL affiliate team the Colorado Eagles.
