Building self-confidence as a soccer player is all about repetition and mindset.

Confidence grows every time you commit to doing something and follow through. This consistency reinforces your belief in your abilities.

So if you say you’re going to train at some time and place you better go train at that time.

The more you don’t do what you say you build mistrust in your self - in other words you unconsciously lose confidence in yourself because you KEEP LIEING TO YOURSELF.

Your lack of confidence comes from your lack of trust in yourself and preparation.

Additionally, whether you’re an attacker, midfielder, defender, or goalkeeper, you have a specific job on the field. You must adopt the mindset that your role is crucial to the team’s success.

For example: If you're an attacker, your job is to score. You must adopt the mindset that if you don’t score, no one else will. Look at Erling Haaland; he doesn't wait for Jack Grealish or Bernardo Silva to score for the team. He takes responsibility and believes in his role.

To switch your mindset, you need to start thinking like a top performer in your position.

YOU🫵🏾 have a job to do, and you need to believe you can do it.

If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. Confidence is a skill, and like any skill, it can be improved with practice.

Here are some ways professional athletes enhance their confidence:

Visualization: Picture yourself executing your role successfully on the field. This mental practice prepares you for real-game situations.

Positive Self-Talk: Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations. Remind yourself of your skills and past successes.

Consistent Practice: Work on your weaknesses until they become strengths. Repetition is key to building confidence in your abilities.

Learn from Mistakes: Don’t fear failure. Analyze what went wrong, learn from it, and use it to improve.
