John was featured here on Life 1051 FM. In Acts 14, Paul was stoned to death, dragged out of Lystra and left for dead. Then he gets back up, goes into the city. Then in Corinthians, later he said I know a man (he’s talking about himself) I don’t know whether in my body or out of my body, but was taken up to the third Heaven. No eye has seen or heard what God has prepared for us, so he’s talking first person. Did he have a vision of Heaven when he had that near death encounter? 

John makes a case that this helps make senes of the epistles where he says I don’t know whether it’s better for me to stay here or to go to be with Jesus. To be out of the body is to be with the Lord.

“I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.” (Philippians 1:23-26)
