The Chris Kohl Fund was created in 2022 in Memory of an amazing animal advocate named Chris.  Since the fund was created, we have granted over $20,000 to rescue animals in need. 

This year’s recipient is Norman. He was forced to live outdoors under deplorable hoarding conditions, surrounded by waste. His guardians did not allow any of the animals inside their home, having adopted too many dogs without providing adequate care. Most of his
siblings suffered from physical abuse, while a few, including Norman,
experienced severe neglect and malnutrition.

In late 2024, they were rescued and taken to a rural shelter in Virginia. After a few days, he was transferred to Homeward Trails. A supporter of ours named Ellen let the rescue know about us and we are so honored to award them with this grant. 

The Homeward Trails staff discovered a large lump on Norm’s back leg, approximately the size of a golf ball. After an examination, the veterinarian aspirated the lump and delivered the
unfortunate news: I have a mast cell tumor. Last week, Norman had surgery and wore a special cone that we gave to him! He is healing with his foster Mom and each day gets better!
