RAIN AND THEN SHINE (or if you prefer RAIN AND THEN REIGN): The Blue Brigade competed at its final contest on Feb. 22. The team earned the following awards: 

Genre High Point Award for Pom

Academic Award of Excellence - Highest GPA

Classic XL Varsity division officer Grand Champions 

Overall Grand Champion Classic Officer Division -1st runner up 

Classic XL Varsity Team Grand Champion 

Overall Grand Champion Classic Varsity Division 

Due to the low temperatures and rain on Friday evening, the contest was postponed a few hours to ensure safe driving conditions. As a result, the team did not get to perform its two ensembles or its duets. 

Sophomore Peyton Robenhorst thinks that, despite the rain delay, the contest was a great end to the team’s competition season. 

“It was super fun,” Robenhorst said. “We did really well, and the energy was amazing. I loved getting to hear our name called for awards.”

In preparation of the last contest, the team spent many hours at McCallum, perfecting their routines. 

“We had lots of long practices,” Robenhorst said. “We also had to make sure our stamina was up.”

Now that the dancers have finished with their competitions, their focus has shifted to their annual spring show.
 
“I can’t wait to learn all the new dances and perform old ones,” Robenhorst said. 

The team’s spring show is April 11 and 12 in the MAC.
