The crash happened around 4 p.m. Friday, March 21, on Bennett Road near Zelles Road, about 8 miles north of Jasper.

Mason L. Wood, 34, was fatally injured when the pickup he was driving ran off the road and into a tree before catching fire.

Wood’s body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science, where his identity was later confirmed.
