Are you ready to begin the day with mindful, intuitive movement. Here’s how 👇

It doesn’t need to be complicated or take a lot of time. I’ve been carving out 20 minutes at the start of each day, and feeling the days are a little smoother, clearer - if I’m searching for descriptives - with this added focus at the start of the day.

Suggestions for getting started:

Let it be intuitive
Set a timer
Notice self
Breathe and move in ways that feel helpful to your current needs
Smile, let this be easy

Keep it simple, especially at first. I feel like there are endless ways to structure a practice. Making it personal is where you can benefit from practicing outside of a group class. While there are a lot of postures to choose from, I’m highlighting just a few in this post to help you get started.

Generally speaking, begin and end with grounding poses, which is why I set my timer for 15 minutes, even when I’m planning for a 20 minute personal practice. With the first few breathes that you take, notice you. What you need right now - RIGHT NOW.
Let go of what’s on your calendar, focus on you at this very moment. Then start to move, intuitively.

Fill the middle of your time with standing, balancing and other mindful movements that require your focus.

Start & End with Poses to ground and reset:
Feeling whatever part of your body is in contact with the ground beneath you. Lying down, seated or standing - all can be grounding. In this video I start standing so I can take in the view and not be lying in the sand and bugs. 😉

Fill the middle with Poses that require focus and also strengthen:
Planks - Reclined, Prone, Side, 3-limbed, Hands elevated can make plank more approachable.
Balance - Lunges with back heal lifted, anything on One Foot, Side plank
Standing poses - All of them are great, Warriors are especial favorites to most.

Remember, these are just a few suggestions. You can and should branch out from here. Get creative! If you want help with this process, message me or come take my group classes (Sundays in Las Vegas, NV) and we can talk after class.
