Here’s a game changer for your travels! I teamed up with microsoftcopilot to explore Chiang Mai with their Copilot app, and it kinda blew my mind!

If you want my Google Maps list for everything I recommend in Chiang Mai, drop ‘copilot’ in the comments!

I’m no stranger to AI—I use it often and find it helpful. But one thing I have rarely used it for was travel. I don’t like AI-generated itineraries or packing lists, and my old AI tool often got the seasons wrong (you know how I am about weather!).

But Copilot is different. It’s like having an expert guide in your pocket when you need it, teaching you about the history and culture of the places you’re visiting. Everything from what to wear, the dos and don’ts of etiquette, context behind some rituals you might see, or finding out how to take part in local customs. It’s all the questions you’d like to ask a local expert, or the things you might feel a little silly asking someone else

The best way to use this app is not to ask it to list the top 10 spots in Chiang Mai or create a 3-day itinerary for the city — I believe that itineraries are best curated by you, based on what you like to see and do. Instead, when you go to sights each day, use Copilot to learn about their history and the significance of what you’re seeing. Use it to tell you fascinating stories about the spot you’re standing in now. Use it to become more aware of and respectful of local customs so you can be more involved in the places you visit.

Here are some prompts to try when you download the app:

Tell me about the symbolism behind specific statues or monuments.
• Can you tell me some culturally or historically significant sights to see in X?
• What’s the oldest temple/sight to see in X?
• What are some sights in X that have interesting stories, architecture, or histories?
• What are some must-try local dishes and their cultural significance?
• What should I do / avoid here to be respectful?

Download the app and try some prompts, I love the chat feature - I just chat back and forth asking questions while I get ready for my day of sightseeing ❤️
