Overwhelmed to be one of the 2025 usatoday Women of the Year. It’s so humbling to be honored among such inspiring and impactful women and I’m grateful to USA Today and gannettco for the recognition. 

I’m also very grateful for the timing. I’ve been so absorbed in the sadness of recent weeks that I’ve lost some perspective on who I am outside of infertility, IVF, and loss. Those are unavoidable parts of my story, but they don’t represent the full sum of who I am. This is only one chapter. 

The USA Today team came to my home to capture this portrait many months ago, and I remember the excitement I felt to be celebrated and uplifted for my multitudes as an astronaut, a researcher, a mother, an author….. and each one of those identities feel like little squares of a beautiful life quilt that I’m wrapping around myself for comfort and resilience right now.
