I promised to share the specifics so I wanted to complete this video with the actual results and a little bit of insight into the few days prior.

I had been in an absolute tailspin after seeing negatives on home pregnancy test strips all through day 5. It was heavily impacting my mental health (and physical— as I was dehydrating myself in an attempt to have a more concentrated sample of hCG every time I tested) to the point where I had to throw out all of the tests in the house and force myself to wait until the official blood test from my clinic on day 9. 

But I also didn’t want to be completely blindsided by the results, so I went out on the evening of day 8 and bought a pack of First Response / Early Response tests, figuring that the residual hCG from the trigger shot would be well out of my system by then so any glimpse of a second line would truly indicate a positive. And…. I saw a faint but obvious second line that night! 

I had incredible hope & incredible fear going into the test — I just knew we were looking for a number over 50, and that we needed to then see it double 48 hours later. 

About 6 hours after my initial beta hCG test, my clinic called with the results and I couldn’t bring myself to answer the phone because I was too scared and wanted to just process the results myself in the patient portal. So I let it go to voicemail, but then couldn’t help watching the auto-transcription of the voicemail on my phone. Immediate chills and relief at that “congratulations..” and then just tears and astonishment to see the actual results of 175 (174.9 to be exact) 

Most importantly, the number more than doubled 48 hours later, which is the validation I wanted in order to share the news. 

I can’t stress enough how early this is. I still have another blood draw and then in about 12 days I’ll have the 6 week ultrasound to try and confirm heartbeat. There is so much that can go wrong… 

But there is so much that has gone right. And that’s where I’ll be focusing my energy these next two weeks. ❤️🙏🏼
