Cory Booker just broke the record for the longest Senate speech previously held by segregationist Strom Thurmond, who spoke for over 24 hours in 1957 to block the Civil Rights Act. 

Cory spoke for 25 hours straight to stand up against the authoritarian takeover hurting children, parents and families and sharing stories of Americans whose lives have been destroyed because of this administration. 

It feels fitting that a record set in opposition to civil rights is now broken in defense of democracy. In a time of crisis, Cory treated it with the urgency it deserves, making the last 24 hours feel more normal than they have in a long time. This is what leadership looks like.
