"I happened to inherit my first film camera in summer 2019, just as I was seeing more and more film shots making their way into my Instagram feed. From there I followed what I think is the standard progression into film, starting with 35mm, then to 120, and eventually into getting a 4x5 camera. I find shooting film presents a different set of challenges than shooting digital. Digital has its place in my portfolio, but I seem to cherish the film shots more. Maybe it's the Millennial in me that grew up on film, maybe it's the extra work and care that goes into making a film composition.

Living in Alaska provides endless opportunities for landscape photography. Drawing inspiration from the greats like Ansel Adams and Bradford Washburn has been incredibly fun and rewarding over the last couple of years. Despite the vastness of Alaska, there's still countless opportunities to stop and admire the details of this beautiful place. Some say it's easy to draw inspirations and take great pictures in this place, but I am often torn between what to focus on - so I just shoot it all." - Charlie
