We have been silently struggling through some really hard news that we found out two weeks ago. I brought moosechaga into the vet because I noticed a lump on his shoulder/neck area, and the vet tested it. It turned out it was a malignant mast cell tumor, which is a form of cancer.

Last week, he had surgery to remove it, which was a quite complicated procedure given its position on his neck. Thankfully, the vets at risevetboulder did an absolutely wonderful job and cared for him so considerately.

Following the procedure we had to wait for a week to find out the results of the biopsy for what stage it was at. Moose is the closest thing I have to a child and I spend more time with him than arguably anyone else. He is my best friend, so living in the unknown has been incredibly difficult and gut wrenching. 

This week, we found out that it is low grade / grade 2 and that surgery was curative. At the time, no further action is needed. I am so grateful that our four year-old puppy can continue his healthy life. 🐶

I’ve seen this as a reminder that life can be fragile, and to appreciate moments with our loved ones. I feel a heightened sense of gratitude.

Also- 
If you notice any lumps on your fur babies, I highly recommend checking them out. I needed to push for this test with the first vet I went to as they wrote it off as a fat cell lipoma and said it was likely benign. 

Advocate for your baby because they can’t speak to communicate for themselves!
