The sun is out over one of the island’s most recognized historic alley houses and what a difference some sunshine and TLC can make. 

This #EastEndSaturday we celebrate the 1889 Rudolph E. Kruger back house that graces the cover of one of Galveston’s most well-known historic architecture books, The Alley and Back Buildings of Galveston. Is this your favorite alley house in Galveston?!

The first photo was taken today and the second a year ago today and my, what a difference a year can make! 

Researching the island’s back buildings can be a bit challenging, but that does not mean these historic walls have not experienced just as much life as their neighbors up front. 

As you can see by the city directories, this home has seen many Galvestonians come and go through her doors.
