## Caption

‘Playtime’ | After days of staking out British Columbia’s rainy coasts for a natgeo assignment, I still hadn’t managed to capture a decent image of the region’s highly elusive coastal wolves. Patience is not always rewarded in nature. You could spend weeks hiding in a blind to get the shot you’re after and still come home empty-handed. However, those rare moments when my patience did finally pay off were always the greatest gifts of all. During the final days of the shoot, mitty and I gained the trust of a mother wolf and became the designated babysitters of her puppies. We watched over the pups as they played in the grass by the water’s edge while Mom foraged for food within the intertidal zone.
