First day of residency ➡️ Last day of residency! Today I saw my last patient as a resident physician and it’s still surreal that I’m done. Interestingly he was from the Congo and didn’t speak English, but we had a great conversation with an interpreter. Thank you to all the patients who entrusted me with their care during their most vulnerable moments. Thank you to all of my family and friends who encouraged me throughout this process. Residency is a beat down and although I’m frequently told that I made residency look easy/fun or that I wore it all so well, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t heavy. Honored to have trained at one of the Top 10 Hospitals for Internal Medicine. In the first picture you’ll see a fresh, very excited young man who was extremely nervous and slightly terrified about actually being a doctor. In the second picture you’ll see a more humble and yet more confident and competent young-ish man. I’m grateful to have met both of these men. Cheers to all the other residents finishing up training!
