FIRE CREW: Cedar City Hotshots

The cedar_city_hotshots are stationed in southwest Utah in the town of Cedar City. However, they didn't always go by that name. In 2001, as part of the National Fire Plan, they started as the Dixie Interagency Hotshot Crew on the Dixie National Forest. They were the first Type I or Type II crew hosted by the Dixie National Forest and during their first two years, they were considered an IHC Trainee crew.

In 2003, Robert Barrett, who used to work with the Logan Hotshots, took over as the Superintendent for the Dixie Hotshots. He changed the crew's name to the Cedar City Interagency Hotshot Crew to better represent the area and town of Cedar City. In the same year, they officially became a Type I IHC.

Although the Cedar City IHC is relatively new in the world of Hotshots, they are an essential part of the National Interagency Hotshot program. From the beginning, the Cedar City IHC crew has been trained in the core Hotshot values of Duty, Respect, and Integrity. They are all about a strong work ethic, dedication to their mission, and respect for the history and traditions of Hotshots.
