The varsity baseball team beat the Crockett Cougars by a score of 10-0 on Senior Knight, March 25 at Northwest Pony Field. The 10-0 victory was the result of a run rule after six innings.

The Knights started off with a strong first inning, scoring three runs off hits from sophomore Tommy McIntyre, junior Max Satterwhite, junior Gus Hernandez and a walk from senior CJ Willie.

Willie said the team did exceptionally well from the offensive side.

“We did a lot of damage at the plate,” he said. “That first inning did a lot for us, and we never looked back, we just kept doing our thing.”

Willie also gave his pitcher, Satterwhite, credit for getting the shutout.

“Max did a really good job of executing his pitches and hitting all his spots,” he said. “When we didn’t have great innings on offense, he did a great job of preventing any threats.”

Satterwhite pitched the whole game with 12 strikeouts and contributed a double on offense.

Willie acknowledged a weakness in the Knights’ defense.

“We need to do a better job of making routine plays,” he said. “There were a couple errors that held us back from playing our best.”

The Knights’ most recent result was a tough one, a 2-1 loss to rival Anderson in 11 innings that put the Trojans alone atop the district standings. The Knights hope to even the series and reclaim a share of first place with a victory 7:30 p.m. Friday at Northwest Park. Before the game, the team will honor Knight baseball legend Everett Williams II, a Rawlings National All-American who was among the top three outfielders in the county in his graduating class and played for six years in the San Diego Padres organization. He currently plays for the TEAM USA slow-pitch softball team.

Attendees will get a commemorative baseball card. Williams will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and will be available to sign autographs during the game.
