Construction is well under way at a new neighborhood in the city of Escondido in San Diego County.

The 64-home development is being built in a very high fire zone.

But these homes fire-resistant; it’s the first neighborhood of its kind in the United States.

“It's a research and development project,” say Steve Ruffner, the president of KB Home Coastal, the company behind -- the company behind the Dixon Trails neighborhood.
