what's a soul mate? // reflections 

Our newest friends may not be familiar with all that lead up to Sully coming into my life, so I figured I'd share the story on this #wolfhoundwednesday ❤️

My introduction into the wolfhound breed began with my beautiful Saoirse. She came into my life at a time when I was at a low point and immediately became my best friend. On some days, she felt like my only friend. She was my original velcro dog, the biggest mama's girl.

Fast forward a few years to New Year's Eve, 2019. Without going into all of the details, she passed in her sleep at only 3.5 years old. To say I was devastated would be an understatement. I didn't know what to do with myself - I had a giant hole in my heart and the little guys and I were all grieving. 

The lovely Heather Burns (may God bless her soul) reached out to me several times to check on me, and ultimately connected me with Mary O'Malley, Sully's breeder. Very long story short, Sully (or Junior Mint, as he was known then) came home to Savannah in early February of 2020, just before the world shut down. He saved me - us, really. He quickly became even more velcro than my velcro girl, which I didn't know was possible. He is everything I could want in a wolfhound - very easy going, very eager to please; a perfect ambassador for the breed.

Though his puppy energy annoyed the little guys on more than a couple of occasions, they quickly grew to love him as they had Saoirse. Me? I quickly became obsessed - how could I not?
