Back in 2013, I lived in the U.S. near Washington D.C. for two years.
My host dad — a die-hard Capitals fan — was the first to introduce me to Ovechkin. Coming from Italy, where ice hockey barely exists, I had no idea who he was… but I never forgot that name.

Fast forward 11 years — I just had the honor of creating this piece for espn and sportscenter to celebrate Ovechkin breaking the all-time scoring record.

Grateful for the trust from marco.bonanno (diovids ) and espn.edge and rgll22 and the ESPN team.
This wasn’t just a project — it was a full circle moment.
