Rufus ft Chaka Khan

* Written by Stevie Wonder: Stevie Wonder wrote the song for the American funk band Rufus. 

* Released in 1974: The song was released on the album Rags to Rufus. 

* Hit single: The song was a hit in the United States, reaching number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and number one on the US Cash Box Top 100 Chart. 

* Grammy Award: Rufus won the Grammy Award for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group for the song. 

* Guitar talk box: “Tell Me Something Good” was one of the first hits to use the guitar talk box, played by Tony Maiden. 

* Chaka Khan’s version: Chaka Khan’s version of the song features Melle Mel of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and Stevie Wonder on harmonica. 

* Rufus’ name change: After the success of “Tell Me Something Good”, the band changed their name to “Rufus featuring Chaka Khan” for their next album. 

* Rufus’ career: Rufus was one of the most popular and influential funk bands of the 1970s. They had four consecutive number-one R&B albums, ten top 40 pop hits, and five number-one R&B singles.
