This recent job here in Blacksburg uses Generac Power Systems Inc. solar + storage solutions. During normal operation, this home will function with net-metered solar—using power from your panels first and then drawing on the grid at night or when you need more electricity.

When there's a grid outage, this system will automatically identify that and switch to battery power. If there's sunlight at the time, the batteries will charge off solar and work continuously as long as there's capacity.
