This week’s #MoodySpotlight is Garrett Bohannan, a junior utexasrtf and utjschool double major. 

Hailing from Frisco, Texas, Garrett’s passion for storytelling led him to pursue both fields. “Journalism has given me a foundation for translating people’s stories into written articles, podcasts and videos. I added RTF to deepen that learning and gain technical skills in documentary production and narrative filmmaking. The classes complement each other so well.”

Garrett chose Moody College not just for its top-tier programs but also for its location in Austin. “I knew this was the place for me when I stepped on campus. I can’t imagine myself anywhere else. The professors and students have pushed me to become a better storyteller and a better person. Moody offers many opportunities, and I’m grateful to learn something new daily.”

He currently serves as texasmoody’s very own social media intern! “This has been my favorite internship! Working with professors and students across every major has opened my eyes to everything this college has to offer. Creating content for Moody has been so much fun, and I love seeing students and faculty engage with the reels and posts I create. Applying the storytelling and video skills I’ve learned in classes to real-world projects has been invaluable. This experience has given me a glimpse of what a career in social media could look like, and it’s definitely something I want to pursue after college.”

Garrett is also a lead social media ambassador for bealonghorn. He’s worked as an associate video editor for The Daily Texan and a video producer for the thedragaudio.

One of Garrett’s favorite #TEXASMoody memories was filming at the Austin Film Festival for Moody College. “It was incredible to see RTF alums and professors thriving in the film industry!”

He looks forward to studying abroad in Dublin for the Photography Maymester with Donna DeCesare. “I’m excited to learn more about photography and take my journalism and RTF skills abroad!”
