The iconic dessert dates back to 1900 when Mary Ethel MacLeod submitted the filling recipe to The Woman's Auxiliary Royal Victoria Hospital Cookbook that was being sold to raise funds for the hospital. Today, the #buttertart continues to be a fall-favourite treat and widely loved by Canadians all over the country.
