Our collection is growing! We're thrilled to share that the Rubin has acquired artworks from contemporary Himalayan artists Tenzin Gyurmey Dorjee (pee_in_the_bottle), Shraddha Shrestha (macha_73), and Shushank Shrestha (shushank17). 

The new acquisitions are all currently featured in #Reimagine: Himalayan Art Now, our exhibition of contemporary Himalayan artists that's currently on view at Wrightwood659 in Chicago through February 15, 2025. Some selections will also join Gateway to Himalayan Art as it travels in the new year.

These acquisitions reflect the our continued commitment in our new model as a global museum to expanding our collection, broadening understanding of Himalayan art, and supporting and giving visibility to living artists. The acquisitions build on recent initiatives, including the Rubin Art Prize and Rubin Grants, aimed at nurturing the next generation of artists and promoting the rich cultural legacy and living traditions of Himalayan regions.
