When we RISE up, lawmakers listen! Watch MomsRising fellow and proud Washington state mom Margarita testify before the Washington State legislature on House Bill 1213, a state bill aimed at protecting workers from retaliation for taking Paid Family & Medical Leave. Most working families know they'll need to care for a loved one or themselves, but, at present, nearly half of workers who pay into the state's program aren't guaranteed their job back, if they take leave. It's because of moms like Margarita that Washington state passed historical legislation like the Paid Family & Medical Leave Act in 2017, and it's moms like us who are rising up to make the program even stronger today by urging lawmakers pass HB 1213.
