On January 6, 1941, 83 years ago on this day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his Four Freedoms speech outlining the four essential human freedoms that he believed should be protected and promoted around the world:

Freedom of Speech
Freedom of Worship
Freedom from Want
Freedom from Fear

In 2018, artists hankwillisthomas ericgottesman emilyshur and wyattgallery created the Four Freedoms Photographs, reinterpreting Norman Rockwell’s 1943 Four Freedoms paintings, to reflect a more modern and diverse interpretation of America, and what freedom might look like today.

This January 11-19, we invite you to revisit these monumental works that will be on view as part of sothebys Visions of America sale at Sotheby’s New York. Proceeds from this special selling exhibition will benefit For Freedoms.
