Meet Kat Sheridan, a rising senior double majoring in Journalism and Gender and Women’s Studies, with double minors in Art and Queer and Trans Studies. This summer, Kat has been gaining valuable real-world experience as an intern at RIMonthly.

Kat’s internship has taken them to a variety of events as press, including Cirque du Soleil and the Great Elephant Migration, where they reported on these unique experiences. They’re also working on a piece for Rhode Trips that will highlight local craft stores.

“I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to get real experience as a journalist,” Kat shared. “This internship has really confirmed my dream of becoming a reporter.”

Looking ahead, Kat is deciding between a career in political TV reporting or event reporting, with plans to attend graduate school in journalism.
