Can you go from beginner golfer to the PGA Tour if you quit your job and commit your whole life to golf? ⛳️  This is the story of: The Dan Plan In 2010, 30 year old Dan Mclaughlin attempted to do just that. He called it: ‘The Dan Plan’. Dan’s goal was to reach 10,000 hours of practice, thought to be the golden number for mastering any pursuit. He had never hit a golf ball before but now he was planning to spend 6 hours a day, 6 days a week playing golf, blogging the entire process. Surely this guy wasn’t for real. You Serious? But the blog posts kept coming and people started to wonder whether it could be possible! And for a while, Dan was ticking all the boxes. 2 years into the experiment, he had practiced for 3690 hours and got down to a 5.9 handicap. After 4 years, and 5030 hours of practice, Dan had finally shot under par and lowered his handicap to 2.6. But this was where Dan peaked.  In early 2015, He suffered a serious back injury and never really recovered. Dan abandoned the experiment in 2017 and faded from the public eye. His dreams of the PGA Tour were shattered. Dan failed in his quest to go from beginner to the PGA Tour, but is it possible? Dan still had to take on odd jobs to finance his golf, and many believed that he lacked the natural athletic ability to make it all the way.
