As the frost on the cholla begins to soften, drip, and water the desert floor, the sunrise breathes life into weary runners who have now been on course for two full days and nights. Welcome to Day 3—
The day your mind begins to accept its new reality.
It accepts the pain, the suffering, the beauty, and the deep intensity of life on the trail. It settles into a slower rhythm. No computers. Nothing instant. Your brain and body are offline—and in this place, that simplicity feels perfect.

Runners are no longer fighting nature; they are becoming part of it.
It’s not about battling the mountain anymore—it’s about moving with it.
When you’re battling, you’re separate. But when you’re on the mountain, you’re in harmony, in synchronicity.

We hope today brings runners that nirvana of connection and oneness.
Sunrise brings energy and motivation. It is intensely beautiful and reminds us that with rebirth comes new life.

Athletes are now approaching Mt. Lemmon, rising nearly 9,000 feet above the desert—the crux of the race. Some passed over it last night and are now dropping into Catalina and Tucson.

Good luck out there. We’re waiting for you in Patagonia—but the race is far from over. The final cutoff at the finish is Friday, April 11.
