Strength comes in many different forms, and the way I supply it is through dance. When kennysantucci asked me to be a part of strongnewyork, I was honored to be included.

For too long, dance fitness has been thought of as a “trendy” “girly” workout, and nothing could be farther from the truth! Dancers are some of the top athletes when you look at their pure stamina, agility, endurance, power, mobility, lean muscle mass, flexibility… I could go on forever.

Just because the training methodology looks different doesn’t mean it won’t get you strong. Dancer’s generally believe in high reps, low resistance while using fully range of motion. This produces a noticeably different type of muscle tone, strength, and ability.

Between the frequency and variation of our exercises, we don’t build muscle in one direction. Instead, we focus on full body, multi-dimensional movement that looks really damn good.

Not only that, it makes your brain feel good. Dance hits the primal rewards center of the brain releasing a natural flood of dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins. You will ride that high the rest of the day and chase after that healthy addiction daily.

Take note strength training junkies: dance can get you (and keep you) physically and mentally strong as hell.

Don’t believe me? Just watch.
