The Rutgers University Glee Club is a highly esteemed men's chorus with a long history dating back to 1872. It was founded by a group of second-year students led by Edwin E. Colburn and gave its first performance in Metuchen in March of 1873. Throughout its 140-year existence, the Glee Club has maintained its status as one of the top collegiate choirs in the country. It has a solid connection to Rutgers University and initially focused on singing songs about school spirit and football, which was a growing college sport at the time.
