#YakGotti is expected to be released from the #FultonCounty Jail in #Atlanta today after negotiating a plea deal yesterday.

On Tuesday (April 8), the rapper, born Deamonte Kendrick, finalized his outstanding legal issues by pleading guilty to one count of aggravated battery in connection to a jailhouse assault in June of 2024. The judge subsequently sentenced Gotti to 12 years, with nine months to serve with credit for time served. He will now be on five years of supervised release.

Yak Gotti was originally arrested in May of 2022 and charged in connection to the YSL RICO case. On June 16, 2024, he was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and riot in a penal system after he and several other men attacked another inmate in a cell. On Dec. 3, 2024, Gotti was acquitted in the YSL RICO case but remained behind bars due to the new charges.

Yak Gotti’s attorney, Bruce Harvey, has released the following statement to XXL about the resolution of the rapper’s legal issues: “All his other cases have been dismissed or terminated, and there will be no other prosecutions for any alleged conduct while incarcerated. It is the height of irony that Yak was acquitted of all conduct related to his alleged Gang and murder charges, and the only conduct for which he has been sentenced is for conduct at the Fulton County jail-the ‘most dangerous jail in the United States’.” 👀
