If you’re stuck in a situation because you think it’s what you “should” be doing. Ask yourself these three questions: 

1. What activities do you use to numb discomfort? 

2. What are you trying to express, avoid, or numb when you turn to your coping mechanisms?

3. What would you do if you weren’t afraid of disappointing others? (it’s unavoidable.)
