KNIGHTS 11, EAGLES 1: The varsity baseball team returned to the win column and then some Tuesday night with a thumping of the Cedar Creek Eagles in a run-rule shortened game on Tuesday at Northwest Park.

Cedar Creek is a new team to the Mac’s district this year, so the Knights weren’t sure what to expect going into Tuesday’s first game of this week’s two-game series with the Eagles. The result of the game allowed the team to change the subject after two tough losses to Anderson the week before and finish out their district season with confidence.

Junior Max Satterwhite, in the midst of a strong season, hit a home run–his fourth of the season–in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Knights 12th and final run.

“The fourh felt pretty good, just as good as all the other ones,” Satterwhite said. “I just hope to continue the pattern going forward.”

The Knights had a difficult start to the season due to some tough matchups during tournaments, but Satterwhite explained that navigating the tough competition early helped the team gain the confidence it needed to prepare for the district season.

“Tournament season was tough for us, but I think we came out strong in district,” Satterwhite said. “We were able to beat Navarro, Crockett and LASA which was good. We swept LASA in our games against them, and it showed us who we really were.”

Satterwhite said he and his teammates will rely on that team chemistry that’s developed over the course of the season against tonight when the Knights take on the Cedar Creek Eagles in Game 2 of their district seasons. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Knights have one more district series left after tonight, against the Bastrop Bears, Tuesday April 22 (away) and Friday April 25 (home). Next week, they play two non-district opponents on the road: Round Rock Cedar Ridge on Tuesday and Dripping Springs on Thursday.
