Colin Yeaman is making his name known in a big way at UC Irvine. The junior shortstop is slashing .421/.511/.786 with 11 home runs, 61 hits, and a 1.298 OPS — good for 14th in the nation.

A former JUCO standout whose early college career was limited by shoulder injuries, Yeaman has shown no issues adjusting to the D1 level. “He’s an elite offensive player,” said head coach Ben Orloff. “He has to be one of the better players in the country that not everyone knows about.”

Now fully healthy, Yeaman is a key piece of the 13th-ranked Anteaters and is drawing MLB Draft buzz as the No. 74 college prospect and No. 12 shortstop per D1 Baseball. -Patrick Ebert
