Whether you agree with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s politics or not, there’s something telling in the way her actions — however small — were blasted online. Hiding her face at a surprise White House photo-op became a flashpoint for online criticism, with people from all sides weighing in, despite not even being in the room or knowing the context.

This kind of constant, hyper-focused criticism, where every move is scrutinized, doesn’t help us get closer to real solutions — it just keeps us stuck in a cycle of reaction and division. If every action, no matter how trivial, is met with intense backlash, it takes us further from constructive dialogue and real progress.

Maybe it’s time we shift our focus to addressing the issues that actually impact us all. Constructive criticism has its place, but endless condemnation doesn’t get us anywhere.
