Finally some good ocean news!

A new study from csirogram found that plastic pollution on Australian beaches has decreased over the last 10 years. Researchers found a 39% drop in coastal debris—and a 16% increase in beaches with no debris at all. The researchers believe this positive trend is thanks to better waste management policies, growing public awareness, and beach clean-up efforts.

These findings are a hopeful sign that what we do matters. Awareness and action are making a real difference—but we have to remember that it doesn’t stop there, ocean plastics are still a massive global issue. We need to push for change higher up the supply chain, in governments and corporations. Less plastic production means less plastic in our environment, period.

Let’s keep the momentum going!
