Sharon Lokedi, 31, made history at the 129th Boston Marathon on Monday, breaking the course record with an unofficial time of 2:17:22. 🏃‍♀️⁣

The Kenyan runner outran two-time defending champion Hellen Obiri over the final mile, a year after losing in one of the closest finishes in race history. 👀⁣
•⁣
This time, Lokedi’s performance was nothing short of dominant, finishing 19 seconds ahead of Obiri and setting a new course record, beating the previous best by over 2½ minutes. The previous record was set by Buzunesh Deba in 2014. ⌛⁣

The race, which coincided with Boston's 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, was a milestone for Lokedi, marking her second major marathon victory after winning the 2022 New York Marathon. 💨 ⁣
