Toughest Mudder Atlanta
11:26:08 - 45 miles - 1st 25-29 / 7th Overall 🥇

12 hours overnight, continuous loop format, and new obstacles in a rolling start layout. A step into uncharted territory. Mentally, I was in it. Grateful to be out there and taking it one lap at a time.

I ambitiously wanted 45 miles, teased the thought of 50 in the debut. Lap 8 punched in the face. I debated with myself every step to call it there (finish at 40 miles). I entered the pit area checked out. Over tired, extremely cold, too beat up. Grabbed my change of clothes, went into the porta-potty, I was done.

I had been leading my age group and sitting in a top-10 overall position the whole race. I stood there, clothes in hand, thinking about how I just ran for 10+ hours and if I do not go back out on to the course I'm letting other people decide my outcome. Absolutely not.

I came out of the porta-potty, said to Zach and Anke, "before I make a decision I'm going to regret, where's the dude in second?" to which Zach replied "he just finished this lap." I threw on a headlamp, grabbed a bottle, and took off.

I had 4 bypass bands on my wrist and the unwillingness to lose from lack of effort as motivation. If I went out there and got beat, that's fine—I have to try. Dropped a 1:18 lap 9; my 5th fastest lap of the night. Closed out 45 miles in 11:26:08 and a massive finish line hug from Joe

Sidebar: Joe called his shot for 60, annihilated this race, won the sprint lap, lapped everyone in it, and took the overall win! #WireToWire

Toughest Mudder was such an incredible experience. Thank you joe_rucco for inspiring me to take a shot at it. Thank you to hallee89, zach.milot, Anke, Dan, Malia, and the entire "Georgia Crew" for welcoming, encouraging, & pitting for me. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit incentivized to come back for 50...
