The new vending machine installed outside of the Polk County Health Department doesn't offer candy bars or other snacks to satisfy a craving. Instead, the machine dispenses items like condoms, emergency contraceptives, gun locks and naloxone — the opioid overdose reversal medication — to address a much larger problem in the county. The machine has been stocked with health supplies and safety tools, all available to anyone at no cost.
