Imagine sending your deaf/hard of hearing child to school without captions, interpreters, or trained staff—hoping they’ll figure it out later. That’s what it’s like when accommodations aren’t in place from the start. 

I sat in on a patient’s IEP meeting the other day and man I was fired up! Adamant about making sure accommodations would be set up and ready to go this fall so our student could hit the ground running. I wanted him to experience how OPTIMAL services felt so he’d know what he needed if and when a situation was challenging. 

Building a strong foundation—early—sets your child up for connection, confidence, and success. Don’t wait until they struggle to advocate. Start strong.
