Right-wing Reform UK have won the Runcorn and Helsby by-election, beating Labour by six votes.⁣

A by-election is an election that takes place if a seat in Parliament becomes vacant between one General Election and the next.⁣
⁣
The Runcorn and Helsby by-election was triggered by the resignation of Labour MP Mike Amesbury, who was convicted earlier this year of assaulting a constituent.⁣
⁣
Reform have also won the Greater Lincolnshire mayoralty, making gains across the country’s local election.⁣
⁣
This is Keir Starmer's first major electoral test as prime minister since being elected as leader in July 2024.⁣

The Conservative Party  lost 10 seats and Labour lost 12, with Reform UK gaining 23.⁣
