Last May, my dad Steve Cavanaugh was diagnosed with inoperable glioblastoma—an aggressive, fast-moving brain cancer with a heartbreaking prognosis of just 12 to 15 months.

One year later, amazingly, he’s still here. Still showing up to work. Still offering his steady presence, thoughtful words, and the warm, teasing sense of humor that makes everyone feel like an old friend. Still being the dad and grandpa we adore. His doctors are amazed—but honestly, if you know him, you’re probably not surprised.

Our family believes that so much of this is possible because of the research and treatment options supported by the Glioblastoma Research Organization and the life-saving work they help fund. So this month, to mark one year since his diagnosis, my siblings (Jeff, Abigail, Stephanie) and I are participating in glioblastomaresearch ‘s 5K Your Way to raise money for a cause that now means everything to us.

We’re doing it for Dad.
We’re doing it for every family who’s heard this same awful diagnosis.
We’re doing it because we believe research = hope.

If you feel moved to donate or share, there’s a link to our donation page in my bio and story.

Thank you for supporting us, cheering us on, and helping give families like mine a little more time—and a little more hope. 🧠❤️‍🩹
