“Where I’m From” — a gallery exhibition debuting on February 10 at Gallery 881 in Strathcona to kick off Lunar New Year. This immersive art installation, led by artists Jeremy Jude Lee and Megan Kwan, features cinematic photographs of a summer in Vancouver in conversation with objects and locations nostalgic to the Asian-Canadian experience. Showcasing a collection of 55 prints, the exhibition is inspired by narratives of leisure, tenderness of friendship, familiar locations, and everyday artifacts that encapsulate the resourcefulness, dreams, and sacrifices of generations before.

🐉 Exhibition Dates : Sat, Feb 10 - Sat, Mar 9, 2024
📍 Location : Gallery 881, 881 E Hastings St, Vancouver
⏰ Hours: Tues-Fri,10am-5pm | Sat, 12pm-5pm

Supported by the Strathcona Business Improvement Association, “Where I’m From” contemplates (be)longing, lineage, and the nature of evolving dreams passed down through generations as (grand)children of immigrants. While the theme of belonging goes beyond boundaries, the exhibition is set in Strathcona’s distinctive neighbourhood, strengthening the connection between people and businesses who make up the vibrant community and encapsulate a thriving entrepreneurial spirit.
