Zhao Xintong overcame a nail-biting finish to beat Mark Williams 18-12 and win the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.⁣

The 28-year-old became the first amateur to secure the world title, having come through four qualifying rounds to even make the tournament. Ding Junhui lost in the 2016 final.⁣

"I can't believe what I've done. It's very exciting," said Zhao. "I was so nervous. It's a very special moment for me, for Chinese snooker, for everyone."⁣
