Over three years ago, Braun Levi barnstormed into my life, as he has for everyone who met him—a force of nature wrapped in kindness, energy, and pure light.  This was nothing new for anyone who knew him for over 18 years. 

This past Sunday, Braun was tragically taken from us. The shock is still setting in, and the pain only deepens. But the love—the love he gave, and the love surrounding him—is louder. Over 1,000 people showed up at his vigil, over 2000 watched a livestream.  That only is the beginning.  The tragedy has struck so many, the many vigils, tributes and national coverage and much more only scratches the surface. 

He didn’t just walk into a room—he ignited it. You felt him. You heard joy coming before you even saw his smile.  Hearing my front door being kicked open and yelling, “Where’s ELO!!!??” - I knew it was ON!  Then it was a parade of people coming in to the house, and Braun was running point - you knew it was going next level. 

Braun was a superstar—not just in tennis, not just in school, but in spirit and life. 

Only knowing him for a brief moment il, 100% he wants us to keep living and loving one another.  He made an imprint, and imprint on everyone’s soul he came in contact with. 

When my parents passed, Oprah shared with me some comforting words in that moment: “Erik you now have an angel you can call by name.” I never forgot this, and when my memory goes to the sadness and shock of Brauns passing over the past 48 hours, I remember those words. 

Then I hear his voice, smiling and saying “I got you elo.” 

Love you Braun

We will carry his light forward.
